Widow's Elegy

Sep 30,2023 | Jusseum Jewelry

There are many unfortunate things happening in the world for various reasons. In certain areas, due to people's wrong thinking or ignorant ideas, these unfortunate individuals become even more miserable.

Let me give you two examples to make it clear. In Haiti, whether a person is disabled from birth or due to other reasons, they are considered a bad omen and are excluded by their families and society. Disabled children are even prohibited from going outside, so they don't even have the opportunity to go to school. As a result, the illiteracy rate among disabled children in Haiti reaches 97%.

A few years ago, we supported the education of disabled children in Haiti, and some disabled individuals, in their thirties, were able to attend first grade with our help.

Another example is widows in India. Watch this video to understand. https://youtu.be/_X2UbtLeU2Q?si=pBxU23IB5VS6A4_C
In many parts of India, widows are considered a curse, like an infectious disease, and are seen as a bad omen.

What's wrong with widows? After a woman loses her husband, she is already helpless and pitiful, but to be excluded by her family and society, without any hope of survival, how terrible is the ignorance and prejudice in this society!

In the Manipur region of northeastern India, a widow ministry has emerged to support these unfortunate women. A woman who lost her pastor husband started this work and gathered dozens of widows who had similar experiences. They comfort and encourage each other, and provide vocational training, allowing this group of unfortunate women to have a place to stay at least.

When I first started supporting this, I thought it was just an ordinary gospel ministry, nothing special. But as I delved deeper into the understanding of how widows are perceived and treated in India, I deeply realized how much these rejected widows need God's mercy and human help!

Participating in gospel and benevolent work in remote areas of many countries is closely related to the ignorance of the local culture.

We will introduce more in the follow-up.

There are too many unfortunate and marginalized people in this world who deserve our attention and help. Let's all come together and make a difference!
